Thirty-five years ago, @elizabethtaylor changed the fragrance industry. White Diamonds went on to become one of the bestselling perfumes of all time and proved that her instincts extended far beyond the screen.

This year, that legacy gets a new chapter: White Diamonds Icon.

I was invited to an intimate first look at the new fragrance, held at @artofperfumeryatiff alongside the perfumers behind the original White Diamonds, Carlos Benaïm and Natasha Côté-Mouzannar, and representatives from the Elizabeth Taylor estate, including her longtime friend, her lawyer, and her grandson. It was one of the most special fragrance events I have attended. Small, warm, and full of stories I will not forget.

Hearing directly from the perfumers about how Icon was built to honor the original while feeling entirely of this moment was a rare kind of access. Hearing from her estate about who she really was, beyond the icon, was rarer still.

Grateful does not begin to cover it.
